About the ABUA GB
The ABUA GB was formed in 1999/2000 primarily because of a lack of structure into how baseball umpires were assigned, taught and tested within British Baseball. Over the years the ABUA GB has grown into the professional association it has become today. We may not receive the pay of professional umpires but we strive nevertheless to be as professional on and off the field as possible.
We look forward to keeping the same goals as those who came before us as we start our second decade by continuing the mission by following our simple goals of being and becoming the best officials we can be by offering exceptional training courses to all participants and our Members. All game assignments are viewed and agreed by the Executive Board at the beginning of each year which ensures that the clients we service will be assigned game officials with the certification needed to make the game enjoyable for all participants. Our Northern and Southern Supervisors will provide the Umpire Schedule to all teams. Our main focus in 2011 will be to conduct as many ABUA GB Level 1 Certification Courses as possible via the Umpire Development Plan. We will also work with our current Members by having workshop days or tournaments where mechanics and evaluations will be conducted. |
